tough team.
...but I think this TAMU team is going to be a very good one, assuming they get their quarterback issues settled.
If TAMU finishes in the top 10 or goes to the playoffs, then this would be his signature win.
Otherwise, it's simply a very good win, defeating a talented SEC team in their own backyard under less than ideal circumstances.

I agree with this Auburn poster:
Every successful coach has to have one and the earlier the better. First off, let's define what it means. To me, I'd call a "signature win" for a coach, a game that he isn't supposed to win, against a quality opponent, in a fashion that demonstrates his system, mentality or in game decisions made the difference.
I could potentially see it evolving into a signature win if A&M ends up being much better than the #20 team...like say they win the SEC or even play in the SEC championship, or are one of the SEC teams that get into the playoffs.
With an overrated QB who looked terrible and a 7-7 record in their last 14 games. I’m happier to see that USC won last night and appears to be a quality opponent, that GT is better than thought, and hope that FSU recovers and only has that one loss in November. If we go 12-0 or 11-1 against that schedule we will be highly seeded for the 12 team playoff.
But that was not a signature win and it’s sad if people think it was. That would be quite demeaning to Marcus Freeman.

look back on this as a Signature Win?

Like, no one has actually played a game yet, we're throwing darts at a board, just to rank something, rankings?
Can't believe people actually take those seriously.
That was a great win, against a talented team, in about as tough an environment as you can find.
...at least, in so far as a real measurement of how the teams rank before the season. When a team can just retool each season with recruiting at every level, not just the freshman level, the preseason rankings are not so useful.
They will still have meaning (or, rather, importance) in the sense that people (even the rankers/voters) will give them too much credit, and therefore slide teams up and down from their original rankings rather than rank them fresh once we see how they perform.
