Pro's:
1. We pulled out a tight one that was a defensive battle; D secondary looks great
2. We were able to run just enough
3. WRs were getting open
4. The new OL had some mistakes but fared pretty well against a vaunted DL
5. Leonard's pocket awareness is good
Con's:
1. We weren't able to pick up any short yardage, holes were limited
2. Leonard's 9+ yard accuracy is awful. He missed several open WRs and had numerous wildly errant passes
3. DL gets very little pressure. Oben was absent
4. We wouldn't have fared well in a shoot-out or if we needed to score 2x quickly - we must be able to do this vs. playoff caliber teams
5. We didn't see the LSU Denbrock
The good news is that we have very little in terms of competition over the next 11 games. We should have a lot of opportunities to clean up the con's and build on the pro's. Overall, it was a good win and one we've typically let escape. That's improvement. To be more competitive in a playoff scenario we probably need to run a 2 QB system over the next 11 games. One when we need to pass and the other in more run-oriented situations. I don't like 2 QBs but we still have a problem at this position. Accuracy was a glaring issue. That won't get us by in games against quality opponents where we need to score 40+ because the other team has a competent offense. We'll have to find some means to score on multiple drives with the clock working against us. That's the difference between the top 3 to 5 teams and everyone else.
