DJ was a real dumpster fire but BC played their ass off.
If you look back at it now thats unbelievable..even if that was the gameplan
1) Clemson's offensive line in 2020 was far superior. They put up a lot of points against us both times that year, even though we had an excellent defense.
2) Clemson had two very good receivers drafted that year (Amari Rodgers, Cornell Powell), and a highly underrated TE in the way of Davis Allen. That, plus Travis Etienne was a complete back who was an excellent receiver as well.
3) DJU had his head screwed on straight that year. He could trust his line, trust his receivers, etc.
The dropoff in talent in 2021 on the offensive line and receiving corps was noticeable,
Even though Justyn Ross came back from injury to have a nice season and Beaux Collins was their best option at WR2, even as a true freshman, and put forth a pretty good freshman year, going from Rodgers and Powell to Ross and Collins was a noticeable drop.
The loss of Jackson Carman (offensive tackle) to the draft also showed a weakness at the tackle position. The pass blocking by his replacement wasn't nearly as good.
