Should they have followed it up by scheduling Alabama?
The ND players don't want to play these games. The chump team players
don't want to play these games. The ND fans don't want to watch these games.

that it also was going to be playing Miami this year as well until they backed out.
FSU, USC, MIami, Louisville, and Texas A&M
that don't want to watch. Enjoy your free Saturday, I (and millions of others) will be partying my balls off and watching ND football.
Go Irish!!!
My gripe is with Power team scheduling across the board. At least USC
got rid of 2 chump games this year and non-Power Utah State plays
at level of competitive legitimacy.
Every Power team including ND should schedule likewise.

You, and the rest that whine about the schedule, think ND owes you more for your fandom. They don't.
ND typically plays a top 30 schedule, that's plenty tough enough without beating the kids down week after week.
Enjoy your free Saturdays.

And they play 1 more pre-season ranked opponent than Notre Dame.

Look at Michigan's schedule last year. Your comments are inane.

Ok, on the one hand, yes, there are not many fun games to see at home this year. It's a non-USC year and our big OOC game (A&M) was away. So if you hold season tickets, it's not a great season for you.
But if the bigger picture is high playoff seeds and a championship, this is how you do it. If you kill yourself, you schedule yourself out of a playoff spot.
Let's consider the following schedule:
East Carolina (home)
UNLV (home)
Bowling Green (home)
Rutgers (home)
@ Nebraska
@ Minnesota
Indiana (home)
@ Michigan State
Bye
Purdue (home)
@ Penn State
@ Maryland
Ohio State (home)
You think any fans of that team are complaining about the schedule? Hate to give credit to shitbags, but coordinating a legendarily weak schedule year with one actually hard road game and your hardest game at home to fall in the year when you have like 40 seniors/grad students, is pretty smart. And it paid off.
Edit: and they still had to cheat to beat Maryland by only a touchdown

We have been beaten by lesser opponents when we project arrogance.
Line Up. Correct last week's mistakes. Turn it over to the backups in the 4th quarter.
Shut up and take care of business.
Washington State and Oregon State will be playing an Independent schedule in 2025 so maybe ND can grab one of those programs to come to South Bend. I'll be at the home opener (my 26th in a row) and as with all the other 25 openers, I intend to have a darn good time.

I have taken many a picture at their request of opposing fans next to the Rockne statue or w/ the Golden Dome or library as a back drop. What I don't enjoy is the ever changing post game traffic pattern that will take fans in the opposite direction of the tollway entrance, compliments of ND campus police. I'm definitely not a leave early to beat the traffiic type of person.
