Riley Leonard should not be the QB, period. End of story.
Had Steve Angeli been named starter, this game yesterday would have been at least a two-touchdown margin. I'm giving NIU some credit here for beating the spread because they're probably not that bad of a team.
I'm also blaming Denbrock largely for the loss. His playcalling was terrible.
Finally, my 2¢ on Freeman. I believe he puts far too much faith in Denbrock's ability and he bought into what Denbrock was selling. He should admit he whiffed on Leonard (and privately Denbrock) and start Angeli next week. But...of course he won't. As for Angeli, I've never understood the disdain for him. All he does every time he plays is produce at a high level. Give him a chance.
the 'little guy' HC choice that you championed for.

He won’t kick the crutch on portal QBs.
He can’t recruit elite receivers.
His team’s execution is inconsistent.
Nick Saban isn’t an idiot.
Neither is Denbrock.
Denbrock’s play calling was horrible. Jeremiah Love having 11 carries was ridiculous. After the TD, he had the momentum, and they should have kept feeding him.
Freeman recruited three top WRs according to recruiting services two years ago. Rico, in particular, looked quite good. . Two transferred or, as some think, may have been asked to transfer due to activities with the former coach.
Cam Williams was one of the top WRs a year ago. Micah Gilbert may prove to be better than anticipated.
This year we expected meadows, and he went for the $$$s. That’s not Freeman’s fault.
I know many don't wanna admit it because we like the guy (I like him too, a LOT) but we've seen this movie before and know how it ends, he's not it.
Things will start to spiral downward this year or next and recruiting will follow suit. The longer it takes to accept this as reality the more time we waste and damage we do that the replacement has to deal with.
Dropped balls. Half-assed throws. Holding penalties.
O line being blown off the ball on run plays. Exactly what plays would you have called differently?
Team execution is on the HC.

Holding penalties. Receivers dropping balls.
QB missing wide open WRs.
Line being blown off the ball.
We won't change the script with anything but a potential star QB. If that's Angelli fine, but Carr seems to have the tools.

answer but should have been good enough to shit out a win at home against a MAC team. Reminds me of the Toledo game a few years back, cept pulled that one out.

one was a shit show masterpiece. Time for a change. If there is a future at QB, it’s Carr. Why can guys like Matt R realize this but our coaching crowd can’t?
They look terrible.
