Nope, nor are we going 12-1. Need to fix the most immediate problems, mostly the QB and OL play.

Then see how it plays out. The QB is on Free as he obviously didn’t think Angelli could be the guy. He needs to give him a chance and also let Carr play. That’s what this year needs to be about.

Rather than staying in-house, for both Hartman & Leonard, MF was mesmerized by a shiny Portal rock.

That's a pretty big ding against Freeman on top of him not getting the team
ready to play and beat a non-Power opponent at home.

Looking back at history, it's clear that the Holtz hiring was a fluke

In other words, we should be even more desperate and demoralized than we already are.

There should be zero confidence that ND can hire a good replacement. Brennan, Devore, Kuharich,

Faust, Davie, Willingham, Weis, Freeman. That covers, what, 70 years? Two great hires, Parseghian and Holtz, and one good one, Devine. It's comical, really.

I never really thought about that, but you're right. ND coaching hire history is pretty mediocre.

ACTUALLY, there are two sides to that story...Experienced hires vs Non

When ND has hired HCs with prior HC experience at the college level or above, they have almost all had a high level of success. In fact, the only complete failure from this side of the coaching hires was ty.

In terms of winning percentage, among coaches that we hired with prior experience, Brian Kelly produced the second "worst" results of all time only besting ty. Yes, you read that correctly...the HC credited with the most wins in ND school history has the second lowest win percent among coaches hired with prior HC experience.

So when you remove the outlier (ty) who was the only complete failure, Brian Kelly is our floor with experienced hires.

Wanna take a guess what the results look like on the other side of the hire aisle? Shocker, they are completely inverse. While there was only one complete failure on the other side, when we hired coaches without prior experience there has only been one success (Rockne) and every single other attempt at hires without HC experience has been a complete failure. Take away the outlier on this side (Rockne) and you have nothing but complete failures.

Our struggles really boil down to our (Admin) continued attempts at ignoring our own history.
