We can still go 12-1 with this defense, Freeman needs to take off the handcuffs from Denbrook

Uh Don, it's a 12 game regular season schedule. Not going 12-1 in 12 games.

The team did not show much heart. We may lose to Purdue, who really care about this game

I don't like the line of reasoning the team showed no heart

For a number of reasons.

The only problem we had yesterday was a QB who can't throw and an offensive coordinator who kept calling for him to pass.

They grossly underestimated the opponent and really showed little fight. The lines were dominated

That’s just effort to me.

We should have been able to withstand a push at the beginning and then overwhelmed them. Never happened

Thread Level: 4

They really didn’t. Line play on both sides of the ball showed on it

With its lame schedule, if ND goes 12-1 it will be like Cinncinati going 12 - 1. As humbaba notes..

A playoff slot will probably result in another ND signature game embarrassment.

BTW, the A&M game was not a signature win.

I would go one step further. Freeman needs to stay totally out of anything related to the offense

If we go 12-1 we're in the playoffs, especially if USC turns out to be good

Can't go 12-1 in a 12 game schedule. Plus this schedule is weak

I was planning a win in El Paso (12-1)

Allow me to quote Jim Mora: "Playoffs? Playoffs???" You better hope for a .500 record.

I repeat my post from yesterday: what's the point of deceiving oneself for a while . . .

and getting embarrassed on the national stage?

You should know there are no longer any guaranteed wins. And even if dumb luck enables the team to get through the schedule unscathed, they would just be delaying their date with reality.

ND went to a couple of national championship games during Kelly's reign of error. Yet I don't count those as special seasons worthy of remembrance.
