We don’t try to win in as much as we try our best not to lose.
And it seems like it’s been going on a very long time
Just lived for the game. They took losses personally and played with a lot of effort. Chris Zorich crying in the locker room after the Cotton Bowl loss to A&M, even though he couldn’t play because he was Prop 48. Wes Pritchett getting off the team bus before the Fiesta Bowl with tears in his eyes because his dad had been recovering from a stroke. Someone asked Wes if he was OK and he responded that he wanted to go out there and kill someone. They played every game like it mattered. Holtz had his slip ups, but he was resolute in being the best every practice and game day. One of the reasons we won against A&M was Freeman was emotionally invested. This past Saturday they ho-hummed the game. You are 0-0 every week. What you did the week before doesn’t matter. You have to find and motivate those guys that have the mentality to give it a little more.
