This latest loss hurt more than any that I can remember. As usual by Monday morning my attitude was shifting, maybe it was just was just a bump in the road? Maybe this will make the team better somehow and they will run the table? I had even changed my tune on my thoughts on Leonard, maybe he did just get banged up on the first drive which lead to so many bad passes and reads? It’ll get better for Purdue and we will blow them out, right?
Then late last night I saw a post on another board where someone had compiled Riley Leonard’s stats going back to the first game of last season. Ugh
In his last nine starts, Riley Leonard has completed 133 passes on 227 attempts (58%) with 3 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. 3 f*cking touchdowns in 9 games??? If I’m not mistaken Drew Pyne had a few 3 touchdown games in 2022. We would literally be better off with Drew Pyne at QB right now. Keep in mind that three of those games were against Lafayette, Northwestern and UConn.
So the big question is, how the hell does a football coach making over 5 million a year evaluate a player like that, bring him in and give him the starting job over talented players on the roster? We all saw Angeli’s performance in the bowl game and I for one was impressed and thought he’d be our starter.

if we get to him soon enough.

I agree Carr is the future but Angeli isn’t Pat Dillingham either.
