Riley Leonard's main strength is his running ability. Without it, he's little more than a taller version of Drew Pyne who can't even make a medium range throw (20 yards), and will ignore the open receivers (downfield in this case). If anything, Pyne was a better short range thrower.
The offensive line isn't as good as 2022's, and they can't help conceal Leonard's weaknesses.

Riley can sit because of injury, not benched because of performance. He still can be utilized during the season and you never know when he may be needed. Unless OL improves though, it might not matter who the QB is. Don't forget, it was MF who said on national TV that Riley needs to play within the offense, whatever that means.
