And Freeman took him up on that. Regardless of what we may think of MF, the fact that he is humble enough to take that feedback from a coach that just pulled off a huge upset when everyone has a thought on what MF should do differently shows a lot of humility. And kudos to the NI coach for even offering.

...and was playing at home.
He should be able to figure out the primary reasons.
Yes, he's a nice and humble guy. This is not a good look in year 3...

regarding observed deficiencies and recommended corrective actions.'...'Facilitated weekly follow on mentorship and training sessions to aid in continued progress and development of Notre Dame's Head Coach.' when he moves on to his next coaching opportunity.
Marcus needs to learn at a lower level and the NIU coach has earned his shot.
...the 5 years he faced him.
Beating Davie wasn't an indicator of anything.
(I view Freeman as a combo package of Davie and Faust at this juncture, sadly.)

No better source than the coach who beat you willing to share how they did it
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I get the optics and even the argument it proves Freeman is unqualified. But if it opens his eyes to maybe a fundamental philosophical change, it can only be good.
if he possessed the skills, qualifications, and experience commensurate with the position he holds, so that he didn't need a sub .500 HC from a small nothing university that has a portion of a fraction of the resources at his disposable, to tell him what brand of lube he used to fuck his world up.
That would be pretty damned admirable.

I applaud Freeman’s openness to Feedback, desire to improve, humility, and obvious commitment, but this underscores his complete lack of qualification for the role.
He’s asking the guy who just beat him what his team did wrong. A head coach should either know that or have assistants who do. This suggests he trusts a guy he just met more than his assistants. It’s one thing to have a mentor and another to go hat in hand to the guy who just out coached you. Yikes.

Our coach needs MAC level advice? Hammock says he wants MF to succeed “for obvious reasons”? What, I wonder, are those? It’s all bullshit. Freeman has promise, but he needs to take this and himself more seriously - ND coaches should be giving MAC coaches advice, not vice Verda.

Fans have every right to be upset , especially after Marshall and the 13 man ordeal.
I still have hope he can get there. Sadly I think Leonard, who was spoken of as a first round pick will be questioned forever, for durability and for passing ability. Daniel Jones who also came from Duke has had people show him a ton of patience.
