The casual fan who didn't watch the game would look at Riley's current stats (13-19, 133 yard, 1 TD, 0 INT, 85 yards rushing, 1 TD) and think that he did a good job.
However, those stats are deceptive, since 38 of those yards came from that pass to Collins, and the rest of his passes have been all dink 'n dunk, while making too many misreads on the RPO.
it's akin to 2022, where Drew Pyne put up respectable numbers, but that didn't tell the whole story of the offensive ineptitude that year.

After 3 games, even though Wimbush had won all of them, the change to Ian Book saved the season. Kelly gave Wimbush too many opportunities to try to fix things, and that simply wasn't meant to be.
