This year's offensive line is a patchwork group of guys who for the most part, weren't the first choices to start.
Our two best linemen, Ashton Craig and Charles Jagusah are gone for the season, and Billy Schrauth isn't going to be back until probably November.
Out of all of the above unfortunate situations, losing Ashton Craig for the season was probably the worst.
Pat Coogan is doing what he can, but he's not taking out the nose tackle one on one like Craig could, which then requires that a guard help him out, leaving the tackle in a one on one situation.
I know a lot of people are ripping on Rocco Spindler for his subpar performance today, since he did commit a couple of silly penalties. That, plus he didn't have a good game today, but I'd attribute this situation to the fact that Ashton Gillotte is probably one of the best defensive linemen we're going to see all season, and that last year, he made Joe Alt look bad.
I'd expect Spindler to have a much better game in a couple of weeks.
