notable examples of how successful innovation and responsible management can coexist.
btw, in a meeting with Fr. Ted, he commented that he wished ND would play more "Stanfords" than "Miamis"...
Miami humiliated us on the field, but the former Indians went after our core values as an Institution.
Maybe should pay homage by playing and performing a native American war dance.

refer to pushed the limits…by the same token the”Catholics vs Convicts” meme wasn’t very complementary of their student body either.
Maybe you might remember the Stanford band’s performance parodying the Lloyd Bridges TV show “Sea Hunt” with the Drum Major decked out in a wet suit, googles and swim fins leading his crew onto the field for the half time performance…Absolutely Hilarious…I’ll always have a soft spot for them ;-)
I am a First Amendment absolutist. But if Stanford can dish it out they also have to take it. Afte all, their founder/funder made his fortune dipping up coolie labor building a RR through the Sierra. As horrific as slavery?

long ago resigned himself to the Bears' football fate ;-)...a source of humor in the extended family ;-)
And very few students give a damn about Cal’s sports teams. Same with frats. There are simply too many wonderful entertainment options in the Bay Area. I wasn’t really that much into ND football when I lived there. THAT only got rekindled when I moved to Michigan and was confronted with a population fixated on sports.

I've got many Stanford grad friends and have joined them for pre-game tailgates there at The Farm...always a good time. My wife and I even had season tickets to watch Tara Vanderveer's teams play...It's truly an outstanding University and I'm glad we continue to play them.
Again, as for the Stanford Band...although both Administrations struggle to 'control' them...they are most often a refreshing eclectic departure from the "same 'ole...same 'ole" fare at half time...no offense to those band members intended.

That, and other choices, were vetoed by the President, who opted for the Cardinal instead.
The Tree mascot was a Stanford band choice, that beat out the French Fry and the Steaming Manhole
The administrators and staff convinced the student body somehow that Crusaders was a trigger word. Someboody better tell Holy Cross. This is the same Valparaiso University that woulldn't allow a Chick Filet on campus.
