What the fuck was Freeman doing in that game?
receivers all night.
I'm surprised he (Mayer) came away with 5 catches that day.

That wasn't the wisest of decisions, especially on a day that where everything that could have gone wrong, did go wrong.
Pyne had one of his worst days, losing a fumble, completing fewer than 50% of his passes, and constantly throwing to Mike Mayer while he was in double coverage.
There were plenty of times that Braden Lenzy and Lorenzo Styles were wide open over the middle, and a simple 15 yard soft toss throw would have gone for many more yards after the catch, but Pyne kept locking onto Mike Mayer on the right side of the field.
Audric Estime fumbled away the ball once as well.
Tommy Rees kept trying to run those stupid delayed draw handoffs deep in the shotgun, when everyone, even that terrible Stanford defense, knew that's exactly what he was going to do.
On another note, Stanford's QB, Tanner McKee, had an excellent game, rarely missing his passes. I have to give him credit for performing well against our defense, although those two gifted fumbles made it easier for him.

Hopefully it isn’t that second “Irish wear…egg on their face” game…like it was that year.

The longer a streak goes on, the closer it is to changing.
