and the younger D players still look more promising than the older, season starters. All the injuries may have been a blessing (Bethelo & Traore are good).
You could argue Young looks like he deserves any and all Ford minutes going forward.

recruits will not break through until next season when Cross and Mills leave and I think they are a step up as well. LBs (Bowen and KVA) broke through this year and DBs already broke through in years past.
Freeman's DL recruits are in general bigger with longer frames than Kelly recruits. Better DL recruiting in general and I'm excited to see what the DL looks like in a couple years when they've fully taken over.
