Link: Overreactions: Notre Dame Offense Takes Step Forward in Stanford Rout
They play the opponent in front of them and after a slow start, got seriouus and took care of business. So, we should be happy about that. Riley still not a consistent passer IMHO. Not sure that will get fixed and the offense just has to deal with his plus and minuses. I left when Jumbo made the delay announcement and got home early enough to watch Ohio State / Oregon and channel surfed my way to other games. Here's a hypothetical question but I'll throw it out there anyway. . Beating the pants off Purdue and Stanford not withstanding ,IF the playoffs started today, would our offense, defense , and MF be able to keep up with Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, and Georgia and maybe even Bama? To me, it looks like those dudes are still playing at a higher level. They look faster and their skilled guys are really good. Not sure the Irish would be able to recover from a slow start against those programs. There is a definite strategy in play. Take care of business one game at a time. Make the playoffs. Win round one. Anything after that woulld be icing on the cake?
offenses at LSU, but he needed (3) NFL first rounders (QB, and (2) WR’s) to make it click. ND still doesn’t have that type of talent yet in my opinion and based on the eye test. I’m really hoping Carr is going to be that guy at QB in future seasons and a great QB can make good receivers look great. ND has a very good defense but you aren’t going to totally shut down the teams you mentioned. Heck those teams have very good defenses and they gave up a lot of points to their high powered offensive opponents, so you will need to put up a lot of points to win. ND in the past appearances in the playoffs and NC game has struggled to score more than 20 points in those big games. A big reason for that was not having a game changing QB or WR. Again, just my opinion but would love to be proven wrong and see ND make a push for a championship.
If ND played the Bama of the last 2 weeks, it could be a fun game.
There's also a good chance neither team makes the playoffs.

Hope for the best…but still not seeing it…even after trouncing Stanford.
