Not a given. If we win out and they lose another game we should be ranked ahead of them.
Your point is?

which means all the teams on our schedule need to win. We might have gotten in with one loss but that one loss being NIU isn't going to cut.
USC beating PSU would have been very helpful and while Purdue losing probably isn't a big deal, it would have been better to win.
We probably need 2 teams on our schedule to be "in consideration" for the playoffs which means A&M and Louisville since there really isn't anyone else to help us unless hell freezes over and Army/Navy work themselves into the mix as a group of 5 consideration. It might be the height of irony (and I don't think it is going to happen) that NIU beating us would be both their ticket in and out ticket out.
Our goose is cooked unless A&M can get in.

Could help with the schedule strength if ND beats both

LSU beat Ole Miss, so it was entirely expected that they'd jump.
For Notre Dame, it's really simple this year. Win out and they're in. Lose one more and they're out.
Lots of football to be played, and a lot of teams ahead of us will fall.
We just have to take care of business on our end and not have another NIU moment.
Does the AP poll even count towards the CFP rankings?
