It's still in 2Q, 6:30 remaining, and it's not looking good for the Cardinals.
Shough has already thrown an INT, and now they just fumbled away the ball. Their only scoring chance was a missed 56 yard field goal.
Louisville's only bright spot is that DE Ashton Gillotte is having an excellent game (4 tackles, 1.5 TFL, and applying good pressure on pass rush). That guy is going to be a NFL stalwart for years to come.
BC is up 20-0, running all over Louisville. BC is also playing pretty good defense, especially against the run.
I'll just be glad that we beat Louisville when they were still ranked.
(Edit: Overlooked that BC missed the PAT after that last TD)

I loathe playing them with any regularity.
Fuck you Jack.

Looks like they snapped out of their 1st half funk... They're now in the lead 31-27.
Shough has been razor sharp in the 2nd half, and has rarely missed a pass, while BC has floundered.

quite a comeback if it holds.
He has thrown only 2 incomplete passes this entire second half, and those were on that 3 and out drive.
Ranked when we played them that somehow that matters?
Wow.
I would say all of that plus that they were ranked when we beat them matters...and maybe, just maybe, our third best win isn't quite as bad as you think they are.
They suck balls.

It's common sense that you'll more often than not, sway some votes your way when you beat a ranked team at the time, even if that team ends up tanking at the end of the year.
You can't deny that 1994's Michigan team got a nice one week boost after beating us (until Kordell Stewart's Hail Mary the next week). Had they played us at the end of the year after our season went down the tubes, they wouldn't have gained anything in the polls.
Or, in 2005, when we beat a #3 Michigan team early in the year, we jumped 10 spots in the rankings. That game wouldn't have had nearly the same impact if it occurred later in the year after Michigan racked up all of those losses.
Thus, it does matter where an opponent is ranked when you actually play them.
Is it even possible to ever say you beat the #1 team unless they don't drop from you beating them?
It's too fluid during the season.
are not a reflection of actual strength of schedule, they are popular opinion about how good a team is considered to be at that time.
I think when you beat a team who is ranked "___" you should get credit in the terms of beating ranked teams, for what they were ranked when you played them.
You already know that the outcome of the game will alter their rankings, but it doesn't change what was thought of them at the time you played them. Also, you have no control on how the other team does going forward...some teams are galvanized by a tough loss while others crumble.
In 2014 unbeaten #5 ND went to unbeaten #2 FSU and beat them until homer refs robbed them of the W...but I digress. #5 ND gave #2 FSU all that (and more) they could handle that day in Tallahassee.
FSU went on to finish their regular season 13-0, while ND lost 4 of their next 5 games. But that isn't the team FSU played that day in Tallahassee...they played the unbeaten #5 team on that day.
