Humidity will be 110%
we just lucked out this year as there was a cold streak in Texas the week of the game.
But Miami’s humidity is far worse and the sun is far stronger
It is like being in the Caribbean in Miami….huge difference.
Florida winter temps are typically 60-70s...maybe you get a few days in 40s.
Not gonna compare Texas to winter up north, but we get spells of 30s and sometimes into 20s for short periods in Texas during the winter. This greater low end fluctuation skews the average.
Speaking just in terms of heat, yes South Florida has higher humidity and is closer to the Sun than South Texas, but the difference isn't as huge as you're thinking. South Texas has high humidity too in the summer and the latitude difference is like 24 to 29.
From someone who has lived both places, here is the best way to describe the heat difference between South Florida and South Texas.
The difference in Sun strength is pretty insignificant (I've felt the Sun strength in South Korea, Okinawa, Houston, Galveston, Tampa, Miami, Iraq, Kuwait...all comparable latitudes, and the Sun is much stronger than an Ohio or Indiana, but not much different from each other).
It's all about humidity vs peak temps with South Florida vs South Texas. 95 in Texas is kinda hot, but 95 in South Florida feels much hotter....likewise 85 in South Florida still feels hot while 85 in Texas is dreamy. BUT, it doesn't get much hotter than 95 in South Florida and 110 in South Texas feels way hotter than 95 in South Florida.
And when talking about "hot days" a more realistic comparison is 110-115 in South Texas vs 95-98 in South Florida, and I can personally speak for which one feels worse. Last year in August it hit 96 on two days in Miami and was typically 92-95, while in College Station last year in August it was 104+ every day of the month, and hit 109+ about 8 times with a high of 113 in the month. In Fort Worth where it's not 'as' hot I've seen 100+ for like 37 days straight in the last few years and the record is 40 something straight.
Another significant distinction with Texas is with time of peak temps and duration of peak temps. Florida hits peak temp around 1-2pm while Texas peak temps are around 5-6pm. After it hits peak temp in Florida it typically falls off consistently as it approaches Sun set to the point where it doesn't feel too bad at Sun set. We don't get this grace in Texas...it slowly builds up to peak at 5-6 (from typically around 90+ at Sun rise) and then it holds pretty close to peak until after Sun set. It's not uncommon that on a 110 day in Texas it's still 100+ until 9-10 at night well after Sun set and doesn't get down to 90 or less until 4-5 am.
Sucks to play football in early September in both places but I hate see us make excuses for it…
Almost everything I said can be looked up and verified.
The only thing I said that could be considered opinion is that 110-115 in South Texas feels hotter than 95-98 in South Florida.
Which 1. This is something it's kind of hard to have an opinion for or against unless you've experienced both 2. I'm sure if we cared enough to look at the effect temperature increase has on heat index, this could be 'factually' proven, but I don't really care that much this morning...just more curious as to what part we need to agree to disagree on.
My wife is from Miami and business took me to San Antonio and Austin probably 35-40’times in last 30 years.
Just my personal perspective from having g spent considerable time in both places.
But trust me I’m not interested in arguing about it anymore.
Just like where we are ranked, how tough our schedule is and what % likelihood is for making the CFP. We disagree. Not a big deal.
I don’t come here thinking I’m going to let perfect strangers change my perspective. Often I do come to get a good laugh though. 36 years of disappointment does that to you.

A win in that dump has been a long time coming.

I may have to attend that game, even though I hate Florida.

While not quite the same (it was a home game), Rick Mirer's first start was as a true sophomore against a #4 Michigan team that was absolutely loaded with NFL talent (and quite a few NFL starters). I think 20 out of 24 of those starters on that Michigan team ended up either drafted or priority free agents.
I would argue that CJ Carr is actually much more polished right now, that Rick Mirer was at the start of the 1990 season.
Miami isn't that great now, despite their record.
Right now, their best wins are a close win vs Louisville (5-3), a close win vs Virginia Tech (5-3), and beatdown of Florida (4-3). They also barely beat Cal in a nail biter.
While that Florida win looks OK right now, Florida is about to get taken to the woodshed in these next 5 games. They will most likely go 1-4 for the rest of the season (losing to Georgia, Texas, LSU, and Ole Miss). They'll certainly beat Florida State in the "save your coach's career" bowl.
To buy him out. The only challenge is who’s gonna come that’s any better?
The last time the boosters had to cough up $13.5 million to secure the NIL deal for 2023 QB Jaden Rashada, they reneged, leaving Napier holding the bag. I'm not saying that they won't do it, though, and if they're desperate enough, it will certainly happen.
You're especially right, that they're going to have a hard time bringing in an established winning HC coach from a big time program. None of the bigger names look like they want to leave their current places (Franklin, Kiffin, etc). Even if they were looking around, I'm pretty sure their current institutions would willingly open up the purses for them.
Even the second tier guys aren't likely to leave to come to a dumpster fire (Cignetti, Campbell, etc).
Some delusional Gators' fans are insisting that Urban Meyer is coming back to restore the glory. Even if by some unholy miracle he did come back, there's no way the university's Board of Trustees would ever give him total control over the program like the last time.

2022-at Ohio St.
2024-at Texas A&M
2025-at Miami
What kind of idjits would schedule like this?
Always open up with a cupcake at home so you can start with a win and gain confidence. Then, go on the road.
there is something in the water there.
But at neutral sites or in SB we are like 13-1 in that same span...add to that those fuckers backed out this year.
If it was me I'd try to set up ND vs Miami every year in rotating neutral locations of Atlanta and either Nashville or Indianapolis
ND should have won in 2017. Kelly shit the bed.
Miami visits ND is 2026, fyi.
at the last minute.
Also, as much as i dislike Kelly, Holtz was 0-2 "AT Miami" so this goes beyond a Kelly problem. There is something in the water there.
Miami has beaten us 8 times in the history of the series...7 of those were AT Miami.
If Miami dropped ND again, I would tell the ACC to pound sand and leave that shit conference.
they dropped a neutral site game, so I'd make them honor that first before we discussed anything else.
But as I said previously, I'd try to negotiate all neutral site games with them, ala Georgia-Florida and TX-OU, but at rotating locations.
Let them wallow in their ACC misery, forever.
