announcers said that Freeman said it was wrong to always blame the QB because often WRs aren't getting open, linemen aren't blocking, and people run the wrong routes. At the time, I believe they were talking about FSU's poor passing but using what Freeman said about QBs.
This makes a lot of the rollercoaster at QB at ND make a lot of sense. IF the HC is always protecting poor play of QBs it will never get much better.
