Heads are rolling in Tallahassee after Saturday's disintegration.
OC, WR coach, and DC all got the axe.
LB coach Randy Shannon gets promoted to DC. That's actually a pretty safe choice, given his significant experience as a DC.

it's their Jimmy's and their Joe's.
FSU can't afford his buy-out.
Norvell needs to recruit.
....commit to F$U soon.

One big difference, though, is that the players on the 2016 ND team never quit on him, versus what we're seeing now with FSU. Our guys fought hard every step of the way in 2016, despite that terrible record, and 7 of those 8 losses were within one score. Even in that USC game where we lost by 18, we had our chances.
With even a reasonably competent defense and special teams, that's a 10+ win team.
FSU's team has had 3 relatively close losses (Georgia Tech, Memphis, Duke), 2 significant losses (Clemson, BC), 3 blowouts (SMU, Miami, UNC), and an utter destruction (by us). They've all but given up during this second half of the season.
Regarding the situation itself...
Part of it is the increased tendency for any team's player to opt-out when things don't go his way, but the other part comes from the lack of loyalty to the school, and the mercenary attitude.
What we're seeing in Tallahassee does have some to do with the coaching, but seeing how the FSU players had a defeated look on their faces in 2Q, and how a lot of them abandoned Coach Norvell last year when they didn't get a playoff spot, makes me believe that it's a terrible group of players who just don't care, and lack loyalty.
Last year, Norvell brought in a very good class of transfer portal players (#6 portal class), and this year as well (#7 portal class). A lot of these guys were basically handed starting spots over the home-grown talent, and it's no surprise that after the bad start this year, they basically quit on Norvell.
There's actually plenty of talent on the 2024 FSU squad, but the amount of players lacking discipline and loyalty all but destroyed any hope of making this season respectable.
