Sure seems like the committee is going to screw over Notre Dame based on latest CFP rankings,

A better system would be to guarantee the 4 conf champs get in & host a home game but seed by rank

That means you could have a 12 seed playing at home against a 5 seed, but that still makes more sense than having a clearly weaker team seeded automatically in the top four

Thread Level: 3

An even better system would be just like it is now for Conf Champs getting bye, but seed by rank.

So, a 10, 11 or 12 seed could get a bye? Interesting.

Yeah, the bye would go to conference champion, but byes wouldn't be locked in to 1-4 seed

This would make it so if a conference champion from a weaker conference was say 9-4 and ranked kinda low, they wouldn't get the double benefit of a first round bye and being boosted up to a beneficial bracket.

They would instead get the bye but would be seeded based on their ranking.

The CFP committee sees very good SEC/Big10 teams duking it out while ND sashays to 11 & a very bad 1

Yes, this is precisely why the Playoff Committee has only TX and Tenn (both 1 loss teams) above ND..

If ND was scheduled against the 2-loss SEC teams at a neutral site who would get the points?

Would 8-1 ND be favored over 6-3 South Carolina?

CFP rankings are subjective. Why wouldn't CFP ranking logic reflect the wisdom of the crowds?

CFP rankings are done by a committee who parses over tons of quantitative data to determine

their rankings based on who they think the best team is.

Vegas doesn't care who the best team is, all of their research surrounds where they think gamblers are going to put their money.

1. These are two different worlds
2. We don't have to guess about the committee rankings you are negatively speculating on, they already showed us what they think. They could have jumped Bama over Miami and ND, but they didn't. Why? Because the narrative you are spinning is trash.

Whoever wrote that ""article"" is a complete idiot...committee ranking is exactly the opposite

of what they are saying.

Did you not see all the "experts" predicting both Bama and Ol Miss to jump ND..?

The committee had none of it...they are being perfectly fair to ND and we are right where we should be at the moment.

And if Tenn falls to Georgia and then Indiana falls to Tosu, we'll be at the #7 seed right where we should be...with a "chance" at the 6 seed depending how some other things go.

Couldn't be more fair...I'm highly impressed with the playoff committee at this point.

SOS just isn't high enough to warrant a higher seed after a loss like that.

In the CFP. Sadly we have a history of proving the naysayers right.
