ND is ranked in the top 5 and are about to sign the 12-13th rated class.

What's the disconnect?

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame

Add 2 five star recruits to the class and we're in the top 10. If my memory is correct, Freeman has yet to sign a consensus top 10 class. I think the difference with him is that his highly ranked recruits are getting on the field and making a difference more than they have in the past.

…and where might ND be ranked against a tougher schedule?

Unknown and not the fault of ND as on paper in advance the schedule looked challenging enough.

Also have wild card of using portal to address areas of need these days….

ND used to lose “5 stars” to under the table payments. Seems to be changing to schools that will generate and shell out absurd “NIL”…

Many of the same institutions…with a few additions.

Human opinion and paid ranking services are more wrong than right. That's the disconnect.

If this playoff run goes well it should be felt in the '26 class.

Clemson is a good case to look at to support your point.

NC in 2016 and 2018, the bump in recruiting rank didn't come until a few years down the line. But what is interesting is that the bump in recruiting has yielded no additional NCs.

The impact of the NIU loss was lingering. 2026 should be a much better year. If not, that’s concerning

They need DL and WR desperately, and wiffed.

Bowen needs to be called out for this, he's the GM.

The last two classes have been underrated, so maybe trust the coaches.

The 2023 class has 5 starters and ~15 in the two deep.

The 2024 class has 2 starters and ~6 in the two deep.

We haven't yet seen the QBs from these classes and there is at least some potential at WR there as well.

Focus less on the national rank and more on the on the field results.

Badmouthing a class of recruits before they've even put on an ND jersey isn't cool.

I'll bet the members of the class are gratified to hear your expert opinion of their abilities. And you wonder why players opt to go elsewhere. Who would want to play for such appreciative "fans" as you?

A trend.

We do find diamonds in the 3 and 4 star realms but we don’t deliver in some areas with highly evaluated talent.

We did whiff on a few wish list players this cycle too.

Until we develop a pass game, the WRs we want to get are a pipe dream

Albany's MO is, if it isn't great then it sucks. Our coaches and QB sucked a couple months ago, according to him/her. Teams on ND's schedule, who aren't in the top 10 "suck", according to him/her.

His/her fandom deserves only the best at every level........I guess. Anything but greatness "sucks" and isn't worthy.

Couldn't agree with you more! I'm amused by people, who have never seen someone play, make categorical judgments on their abilities or lack of same. I believe this staff knows the type of athlete they want and are not distracted by star ratings from "experts" trying to sell their services.

Dabo won 2 natties with that type of recruiting ranking.
