My son & his family were at the game on the Cane side. Cane fans were more than pissed at Cam Ward.

They were pissed at the sideline fisticuffs. They start asking my son why he was at the game wearing a Notre Dame cap. Comped box seat game tickets, hotel, and airfare is the reason why. Irish open at Miami in 2025. Should be fun.

This will have the opposite effect on Warde's draft stock than he thought.

Not a chance in the world that Dan Campbell would draft a loser who quits on his team. I am sure most coaches will agree.

One would think these stupid takes would stop after they are wrong every year.

Yes, and Bosa's stock dropped after taking a half season off. Nope.

The team was trying to get him the TD record and he played until he had it. As importantly, NFL teams were made aware of it before the game.

But, of course, they wouldn't have cared anyway because the NFL doesn't care at all about opting out whenever it happens.

Yup. He punked his own team.

He should have simply manned up and either finished the game, or opted out of the game entirely, to give the backup some more practice.

I understand this was a business move, but playing that 1st half isn't going to change his draft status.

He basically left his team high and dry in a game they should have won by 2+ scores.

He and his team wanted him to get the TD record.

That was as big of an "It's all about me moment" as I've ever seen. "I'll play in the game until I set the record then, sayonara. You're on your own"

This is the kind of stuff that really could ruin college football.

One can step aside to protect NFL marketability before a bowl game and get no shade for it.
One can also choose to play for a team and get the added gratitude from fans that comes from the sacrifice.

But Ward played the first half to help achieve a personal goal, and then he walked away mid game.

He took away another player’s chance to make a name for himself in the first half.
He took away practice time from the team to get another QB ready.
He undermined whatever morale is present on that team.
He manipulated the situation for his own benefit at the expense of his teammates and his coach can’t say a thing about it or he he feels that it will not be able to recruit more players…….(I have NO sympathy for the coach who contributed to this problem on his team).

All in or all out - no problem. Half in for self - big problem.

Irish actually played in this bowl and lost to FSU in 2011. It was called the Champs Bowl back then.
