I've enjoyed the toilet bowl games way more than these playoff games. I'll bet there will be at least two more non-competitive games before it's done.
Top four teams, decided over two weeks. Going until the third week of January is stupid and needless. Combining this with NIL, it's like a gaggle of pinheads got together and planned how to ruin college football.
Have I mentioned how lame these playoff games have been?
You're against the college players making some money?
Yeah...and a bunch of meaningless bowl games this season have been just as lame.
I mean, it's practically slavery! Poor lads!
Cue the, "They're there to be athletes, not real students!" sports bro talk.
I, for one, look forward to the day when ND decides enough is enough and puts together a conference of teams committed not to being a minor league football program. How do you like that?
...college football.
And...sure...ND is going to put together their own conference. And...do what?
ND doesn't seem bothered that they made the playoff. That home playoff game was great.
If it doesn't, it won't be Notre Dame anymore. The principles of ND have always been clearly stated. Constructing a minor league football program masquerading as a home for student-athletes contradicts that.
Over the college football history past
Nothing wrong with paying players some of which they generate.

a serious participant in the discussion.
Just out of curiosity, is there any depth to which ND could sink in paying players where you would finally say, "Enough?" How about $10 million for a quarterback? How about twenty?
are on the sidelines, with shit competition, and other schools are participating and having a chance to be champions.
To what level would it take for ND to stoop and prostrate itself in paying players? What about $10 million for a QB? Twenty? If it cost $1 mil for Leonard in 2024, it will cost $5 mil in a couple years for the equivalent. Pay whatever it takes? Is that your position?
...or both?
Understand, this system is obviously unsustainable. Only the morons who designed it apparently couldn't foresee all of this. ND could be ahead of the curve, before it all crashes.
You know...there's no reason ND now has to participate now in taking players off the transfer portal and providing NIL money.

university well known.
And when someone tells me to shut up, I talk more, so get used to it. There are a lot of vapid sports bros on this board with not too many synapses firing. Meatballs, you might say.
Good luck with that.

of going more woke.
What part of your Notre Dame degree makes you proud? The football team?
more questions about football than anything else when it comes to Notre Dame.
Again, this monumentally stupid "system" being created before our eyes is obviously unsustainable and will crash. Even you can figure that out if you set aside your hurt feelings and think about it for a bit. ND football will always be around. Tying themselves to this shitshow is not wise. I' far from alone in understanding that ND will only participate for so long, and it ain't gonna be too long, at the rate this "system" is devolving.

At that point...if the TD had stood...it would have been 24-21 and Penn St hadn't been doing much.
worse. As always happens, the push will not be to cut down the number of teams to avoid these crappy matchups, but rather to expand it. College football until March!

I have never heard an argument for paying college athletes that isn't wrapped in histrionics and maudlin tales of woe and exploitation.

Boise has played Penn St tough tonight.
