up to it you doubters.
Only TD was on busted coverage
The guy was making his first start ever. Has a cannon of an arm and we are lucky his receivers literally dropped 6-7 perfectly thrown balls including one that was an obvious touchdown due to blown coverage.
We can respectfully agree to disagree. Considering this was his first start on a huge stage I think he was actually pretty good. Both his offensive line and running backs really didn’t help him and his receivers dropped key passes. I think his team put him in a tough spot. Particularly after they were forced to play catch-up against an elite defence. I think they have their QB for next year or two.
He was under siege all night with no help from the run game, and little help from receivers who failed to win contested throws and dropped catchables.
I don't think he was responsible for making line assignments, it looked like one of the guards was, so you can't put line issues on him. He made several great passes with a pass rusher barreling in, and didn't hold onto the ball too long on any of the sacks. The stripsack at the end of the 1st half was 100% on Smart. ND only rushed 4, but got to Stockton in <3 seconds. His blindside protection wasn't there, but ND knew he was throwing a longer developing route.

Actually, I thought he was pretty damn good for his first start, especially in a game of this magnitude. His receivers did not help him.
