Regarding Abdul Carter being face masked on Love’s TD run
In looking at the film, Amil Wagner has his hands on Carter’s face mask but does not grab it. It looked like at the end Carter’s helmet pulled down, but he looked to be making one last effort to stop Love before he crossed the goal line. It is hard to see because Wagner is wearing gloves with dark finger tips and Penn State has dark facemasks. It certainly looks like he was pulling down but I think it was just the motion of Carter trying to make a play.

Judging by the obvious holding penalties not called on Penn St, the refs were trying to avoid calls
Seems for the most part they had a "let the players decide the game" approach. I recall a blatant hold the announcers highlighted during one PSU TD

Not turning to find the ball isn’t enough for a PI. I have to impede the receiver too
