When ND was recruiting Faraimo out here, there was a corner they really wanted and stopped once they got his grades.
I think the players were eligible for admission as high schoolers so they have the same academic potential as normal recruits. I've seen no evidence that a player not advancing towards a degree, skipping classes, or otherwise performing under standards is being allowed to play for the team.
Didn't the greatest ND player of all time, Rudy, get in as a Junior transfer from Holy Cross?

they're still making guys go to class and get on pace to graduate as far as I've heard.
There are smart kids all over the country in all the conferences..the primary difference is that most aren't pushed by their Sport Teachers to achieve academic excellence as well.
