Probably an unpopular opinion...the current playoff is just too long
Before the playoff started I thought six teams legitimately had a chance to win: Oregon, Texas, Georgia, Penn State, Ohio State and of course Notre Dame. Six is actually a high number for a given year as most years it's more like 2-3, occasionally 4-5.
Seems to me 8 teams is about right as you will always get all the deserving teams while not leaving anyone out, unlike last year when there were again six deserving teams. You could play the final four on Jan. 1 and the title game as in the past.
I just think it's too much, too long.
