Dline recruiting not at championship level. Not enough pass rush against better offenses. Need better receivers. Not knocking our current players. Difference makers on offense. Haven't had a Golden Tate caliber receiver in a while (let alone 2 like OSU).
So proud of the heart and grit of this team! Next year should have excellent Oline. Need more offensive threats and will need someone to replace Watts and Morrison. Go Irish!

ND's pro day, he might need to return. If he's going to slip into a late 2nd or 3rd round pick, NIL money might make it worthwhile to stay.
Already a probable 1st round pick and little to gain except risk another injury.
If he's healthy with no lingering effects from the injury, he'll go late in the 1st.
We were missing two of our top defensive ends (Traore, Bothelo), our best 3 technique tackle (Mills), and Howard Cross wasn't anywhere near 100%.
We didn't have the bodies to freely substitute, and tOSU's excellent offensive line had a solid game.
I think Al Washington has done a great job as DL coach.

They do quite well, given the resources at hand
given the defense's stats.

There are two 1st round picks on that line in the way of Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant. That, plus they had a deeper reserve of well-developed, quality, and healthy, front seven players. They could rotate in fresh players, and not miss a beat.
As good as Howard Cross has been for us this year, he wasn't 100% for the championship game, and the available reserves weren't nearly as good as what Michigan had. Losing Riley Mills made it even worse. I have all of the respect for Donovan Hinnish, and he's a very capable player, but barring some miraculous development, he'd be more of a priority free agent, instead of a 1st round pick.
thousand cuts,
