Knowles is in a great position right now, with a talent-rich roster, well-developed players, and it would be significant downgrade. Oklahoma would have to offer him a good bit of money, considering he's making close to two million a year at tOSU.
That, plus Oklahoma already has a DC, and two co-DC's on staff.
Would OSU let that happen?
Would be a weird hire since Venables is supposed to be the defensive master mind.

Venables isn't the DC anymore.
The Head Coach is more of a CEO with responsibilities across the board. He needs a DC that can concentrate on that side of the ball.

Apparently, he has a girlfriend (who the rumors say he intends to marry) who lives in Oklahoma, and she's not willing to move because she has family (including children) there.
Don't know. New challenge? Dollars?

Yeah, this one makes no sense. Seems odd. Unless he's chasing $ but OSU would likely pay.
The only other thought is, wasn't he the Okie State guy? If so, maybe he just likes OK. Can't argue that. He got a Natty and now just wants to go coach somewhere he likes living?
