Unless I'm forgetting someone, the 2025 WR group consists of Greathouse, Faison, Fields, Pauling, KK, Gilbert, Cam Williams, Saldate, Burress & Bettis (the last 6 guys having little to zero CFB experience)
Btw, I was somewhat disappointed that Williams & Gilbert didn't see more action this year. I recall Gilbert dropping a gimme TD late in the Stanford game & I don't remember Williams playing in any game this past season. KK Smith caught a few passes early in the season.
I don't know if the two incoming freshmen are ready for playing time, but even without them we have 8 WRs and assuming 2 injuries (inevitable), 6 ought to be plenty.
Faison might be a roster casualty if he decides to focus on lacrosse.
Coming into the season, we knew that Cam Williams was unlikely to see much playing time give his "rawness" as a receiver coming in. There was no reason to play Gilbert just for the sake of playing him.
experience so they can build depth.
If 2024 taught us anything, it's important to have the next guy ready if the guy in front of him gets injured. We got very lucky there were so many true Freshman that were ready to play & even start due to season ending injuries to starters (i.e.-Knapp, Moore, Aneyas, Young)
We aren't going to get that lucky again & the WR group is really thin.

it felt like he wasn't even playing because he didn't get the ball all that much, so you never heard his name. I'm not sure if it was a Denbrock/scheme type of thing or maybe Leonard just wasn't seeing him to get the ball to him. What I do know is that he was part of much more key plays in prior seasons.

With WR depth improving, and how he wants to be a starter, it makes perfect sense.
Thanks to the man for his contributions to the University of Notre Dame. He has been a solid player for us, doing some good work as a very good WR3.
