Monday night also sucks when you have to go to work the next day.
How about starting the season earlier, eliminating Conference championships and playing on New Years Day?

The season is already too long it is for these college kids.
The way I see it, shorten the regular season to 11 games. Let the conference champion be decided by who has the best W / L record (no conference championship games)
Take the top 8 in the final CFP rankings, and let them slug it out.
The 6 NY6 bowls can slug it out and the winner plays in the NC game, with one of those 6 bowl games being able to host the NCG. No team should play more than 14 games in a season, playoffs included.
The sponsors of the 2nd tier bowls can increase their payout.
The fact that we played 16 games this year, some of them being truly physically brutal, makes me question the length of the entire season. These are college kids, whose bodies aren't fully developed yet, and when you combine it with the rigors of being an actual student (well, at least at the Golden Dome), that's too much to ask of them.

For me, even as a ND fan, the game felt distant from the season. Monday night was also dreadful and pretty low energy.
If they can’t hit it out of the park with ND and OSU, formula is off.

The media 24/7 going on and on that the game was going to be not much of a game at all. Why should viewers bother who were not connected with the teams involved?
a game or two, but the length of the playoff is just fine. Can even go to 16 teams without being lengthened as long as there are no byes.
I completely enjoyed them and I agree and regular season being shorter because first and foremost a 15 to 16 game total number wears and tears on college kids. I say go to 10 regular season games then 16 playoff teams, one additional home game to the top 8 seeds and eight neutral bowl games then 4 teams to the major bowls to two and the finals from sunny Pasadena after. At least it would be down to 14 for the finalist in number of games.
