interesting to see how they do it, they have a lot of money they could use if they chose to
He's invested in this school and football program. That's for sure.
6-18 over two years isn't very inspiring, and the fact that he was treating women staffers like garbage didn't exactly win him any favors from the powers that be.
I will grant him this, that David Shaw was on a terrible trend downwards before his taking over, and he had to rebuild, but to not show any improvement in year 2 gave Stanford (it's Board of Trustees, along with GM Luck) every reason to terminate him.
Four of last year's losses were within one score, showing that they could have been at least a reasonably decent team, but when you look at his being lazy when it came to the transfer portal in 2024 (they only brought in 4 guys), the call to fire him was a no-brainer. There were times that a little bit of additional developed depth would have easily swung at least two of those losses to the win column.
He did manage to bring in some decent numbers for the 2025 class when it came to transfer portal folks, but by that time, it was already too late.
It should have been done sooner, though, so that they could have hired a HC in time for the spring. Now they'll have to go with an interim.

Notre Dame beat Stanford like a drum in both of Taylor's seasons
How many times were we all hollering at the screen "just run the damned ball!" when he kept making Drew Pyne throw all of those dink 'n dunks, especially on 3rd and short?
If it weren't for that 40+ yard TD to Tobias Merriweather, Pyne would have thrown for barely 100 yards that day at about a 50% accuracy rate, with almost all of those receiving yards going to Mike Mayer.
