And I really enjoyed our pre-season-playoff game at home last year. I'd love to host an SEC team in December.

Conference championships are money grabs and only cause issues. If a team is in the top 2 of your power 5 conference u have nothing to gain now by playing. Just a risk if you lose

If nothing else than to see Lincoln and the cheer girls trying to keep warm
The conference champions were good teams, but weren't nearly as good as their rankings would indicate, with maybe the exception of Georgia.
That being said, it would have been awfully nice for us to have a bye. We lost Rylie Mills and Anthonie Knapp during that Indiana game, and Howard Cross, who was at best, at 85% strength, got banged up.
That plus Jeremiyah Love could have used a week of rest to truly get to full strength. He wasn't anywhere near his top level for the playoffs, even though he definitely came through in the clutch. Just think what he'll do this year, fully healthy and with another year of strength and conditioning.
Now, last year the main reason 2 of the 4 lost is because the Conference Championship put them in the top 4 (Boise and A.S.U. would NOT have had byes on straight rankings).
That said, teams with byes had at least a 24-day layoff between their last game played and the first playoff game. Coaches love the chance to rest their teams, but that's probably more than anyone would want.
Jack’s harebrained idea only lasted one year.
Can’t wait for all the crying about Notre Dame’s unfair advantage. The vote was unanimous (as required), so just tell the whiners to go bitch at their respective conference commissioners.
there will be lots of complaints about the conference championship game exposure that n.d. doesn't experience. but, you know, fuck 'em. they can opt for independence, too.
