This is a decent indicator of how good and deep we are in the O Line.

Hope Rhule and Nebraska keep improving. Their fans have always been cool.

Agree on their fans - terrific. Was treated extremely well in Lincoln back in 2001. They kicked our ass and were almost apologetic about it.

Nebraska Under Solich: 58-19 (3 Top Ten finishes, Big12 Championship, title game appearance)
Nebraska Since Solich (2004 - Present): 143-108 (no Top Ten finishes, no conf championships)

Nebraska AD Steve Pederson on firich Solich:

“I will not let Nebraska gravitate into mediocrity. We will not surrender the Big 12 to Oklahoma and Texas. The standards at Nebraska are high, and rightly so. We need to be headed in a direction as one of the premier programs in the country. At the end of the year, I evaluated all aspects of the program, and I decided new leadership was necessary to move our program forward. We are not interested in merely maintaining what has been. We are about building a program that competes at the highest level every year. This is not just about wins and losses. This is about a championship philosophy across the board — in recruiting, in preparation, in performance, and in vision. The byproduct of excellence in every area of your program is winning, and I don't apologize for having high expectations."

How'd that work out, jackass? Pederson was fired in 2007.

There was more to it, but I agree that NU became another program that thought it could do better

Firing Pelini who averaged nine wins to hire Mike Riley was certainly something.

Claimed they found that date rape drug in his system and that someone had slipped him a mickey.

Supposedly a good guy.

Thread Level: 5

Yup. He made a lot of people actually have antipathy towards the football team.

He was always looking to hog the university's resources for himself (most of the time) or the football team (some times).

The national championship volleyball team, for example, was the target of his demands, and he pissed off a lot of people when he tried to get their resources pulled, even demanding that the training table for the ladies be shut down.

There were plenty of resources to go around, but he was on a big time power grab, and he found out that he wasn't nearly as powerful as he thought he was.

Heck, even Trev Alberts, his old teammate, chopped his salary, and gave him a "win or else" ultimatum.

All of the above, though, pales in comparison to his behavior outside of athletics. I'm pretty sure he's still banned from many of the bars in the city, since he was basically trying to be Johnny Manziel while being in his 40's.

He busted his butt while here, and it makes me happy to see that he's getting a great shot at Nebraska.

Thread Level: 2

Awesome for him. So we have 8 All Big 10 OL at ND right now.

But that ND had a "brotherhood" where they played for each other.

Curious quote.

Lol Odd that he wasn’t going to start at ND but will there. But wish him well.

I think Nebraska's offensive line will be significantly better this year, though, and combined with a more seasoned Dylan Raiola, there's no reason why they can't be much better.
