The rivalry ended in 1990.
And will never forget the environment.
It’s not the same as it was but those games and the environment will never be duplicated. The teams and fan bases hated each other. That’s the reason why the games were stopped. It did cross a line.
So I am guilty as charged as well.

...it was probably only Johnson and Erickson.
Schnellenberger only did well against ND because of Faust's ineptitude...

Howard Schnellenbarger started all of the dirty stuff at Miami.
Jimmy Johnson embraced it and took it to the next level, such as all of that Pell Grant fraud, as well as encouraging the thug culture.
Dennis Erickson maintained the status quo, as the nickname of "Convicts" came to the forefront. Having the 2 Live Crew as their cheerleaders didn't help the image either, especially when Luther Campbell was putting cash bounties on Irish players.
Erickson cowardly left for the Seahawks, since he knew the investigations were finally coming, and Butch Davis was left holding the bag.
Davis actually rebuilt Miami better, and cleaner, until that scumbag Larry Coker came around.
The trifecta of college football coaching scum.

In fact, I feel that college rivalries in general are becoming passé.
Social media makes everything today seem so so instantaneous and fleeting.
It's like our society suffers from collective ADHD.

Next I was at ND for the “Remember” game… which is now forgotten.
Lore means very little in today’s fast paced world
Fuck Miami and Jimi Johnson too.
