I think they could have made almost any top notch look average today.

Texas' defense was good as well.

If he was Arch Smith no one would have any idea who he was. Name Bias.

First time road starts usually don’t go well.

First time road starts against a top 5 team, probably go worse.

I’m sure Arch will be fine

Both team’s offensive game plans were very conservative.

and especially the OL needs to execute and do their job. Carr does not need to be Dan Marino or Tom Brady. He needs to be CJ Carr and play football efficiently like he knows. The coaches need to counter the Miami hyper energy and use the ND strengths and they will be fine. Lots of weapons but they can't drop easy balls or allow free blitz runners for big sacks early...which you can bet Miami will try to do. But this is not the 2017 ND team...it has far more talent....and hopefully a far better plan against that disaster. After watching the four playoff games of last season (and attending the Sugar Bowl with my alum daughter), I am far more comfortable with the ability of this staff and the talent of this team to compete with anyone.

The first couple or three series for each team should be of high dramatic interest.

After 40+ years of the same nonsense you'd think folks would actually stop listening to the BS and wait to see what the reality is. Guess not.

But that was my point, folks are convinced he's a great QB with no evidence, just hype.

Manning has played meaningful snaps before.

OSU is blanketing their WRs.

Fortunately...if the Irish OL is as good as their hype, ND can run it a bit more effectively than the Horns. I have faith that Freeman will test all the waters and find the safest shallows.
