In olden times weren;t there bowl games ND turned down because they were on Sunday? What's changed?

ND turned down toilet bowls, meaning anything below the Gator Bowl.

It was tradition to stay away from playing on Sunday as that was the domain of the NFL. In recent times that tradition has been ignored a few times
