I’ve lost my love for wide receiver screens

The risk/reward ratio does not seem worth it.

Our major problem on offense is predictability. U know these things are coming so they get blown up

That’s been an issue for a very long time.

We run the same mix of short passes and runs all the time. Out deep throws are wheel routes and seams to the TE.

Have to establish a downfield passing game to truly open it up for the screens

You have to either force the defense to play a medium or deep zone, or have them play a hyper-aggressive attacking defense.

Or, you have to hope that they have Jon Tenuta as their DC.

Can't remember having any love for them in the past 7 decades..

even when they are successful. Seldom do they achieve even a first down and the interception and incompletion rates make them bad plays in my opinion....unless the defense lines up 1 on 2 with a second defender 20+ yds. deep...and how often does that happen? Even if that were the case, I am not sure that the single defender can be blocked on a pass play until the ball is caught so a penalty risk may be in play also. If I never see another one it will be too soon.

They are no longer sneaky and don't work. DBs recognize them very quickly now.

TCU used them a lot against NC, but they also threw downfield and ran the ball. Can't be a solo item

They have their place. But not when they are fully anticipated...
