Ohio St. - 14 points
Texas - 7 points
ND - 24 points. Carr looked good but Denbrock didn't ask him to do much.
Alabama - 17 points. Simpson got thrown to the wolves and threw 43 times.
Love and Price will get a hell of a lot more touches and open up the deep ball.
the past couple of years. I think if we had a portal QB (ie: Leonard, Hartman) we would have had enough offensive efficiency to win against Miami.
The two sides of the debate are: "short term success" with a portal QB vs. an eventual "better program and team" with Carr by the end of the season and into next year.
It looks like the build for the end game argument won the day with the ND coaches and I am hopeful it will work as designed. It was hard to watch the offense struggle with the concerns about relying too much on the young QB, which made the offense more predictable and our margin for error almost nil. The mistakes just made the challenge insurmountable.
Carr did show some good things and it would have been a big confidence builder if he was playing against a weak team, like most schedules these days. Having a little more confidence and the coaches willing to take more risks, could have made ND a winner if we had played Miami after a weak opponent during week 1.
We need to win against the Aggies, or we could see a real struggle moving forward with lots of critics second guessing our decisions.
