I've said many times, Mark Emmert deserves as much credit for Bama's dynasty
as Saban does. The end for Saban started when his long time DC, Kirby Smart, left for UGA. Smart knew how to get Emmert to give him the golden pass to openly pay players as well and used it to create his mini dynasty.
NIL, for all the ridiculousness it has brought, leveled the playing field for a lot of teams.

Nick Saban won two national titles and went 113-11 at Bama after Kirby Smart left.
And? Bama still had an absolutely stacked roster and the luxury to pay players with impunity.
Why wouldn't they win still? Smart still had to build UGA's roster, Bama was still, by far, the most talented team in the country and still had an excellent staff.
I said it was the beginning of the end of the dynasty because they now had competition for buying the top players. Only one team at that point, but it was still somebody else.
