I'd prefer a FCS opponent today where ND could fix what ailes them.

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame

ND needs to take a page out of Ped State's book on scheduling..that scumbag Paterno was notorious...

for never opening up on the road, always scheduling his first 3 - 4 games against cupcakes; at home no less and then making sure he had an open date before one of his "big" games. This year is no different for Ped St. They opened with (all home games) Nevada last week, today Florida Int'l, next week (that perennial FB power) Villanova; open date the week after before they play Oregon (at home). Gotta love that slimeball school.....!!!

Oregon will clean their clock on 9/27! Big Game James will again "strive for excellence" in vain...

ND will be saddled with harder games earlier going forward. Both good and bad to that.

ND can lose one early and still make the playoffs, but have to be ready to play day 1. Will put increasing emphasis on quality of the QB, getting up for early games, and possibly physical D practice.

The bye would also suck less if there were better games on TV today.

Also no matter how talented the line is, it seems like they don't mesh until about the third game.

Granted, it is against SJSU. But I think they were opening with conservative approach and not stretching the field.

Like us in retrospect, the strategy didn’t work, but given the OSU defense, it makes sense

That’s a really hard first game for a kid, as is the Miami game, where you have competent coordinators and talented kids playing on the other side.

is probably a necessity. Sucks not being able to see the lads play but it would suck much worse if they played a cupcake and looked just as lost in their fundamentals.

Need a bye in week 2 to work on it because we had significant issues in game 1.

Deal with it before it’s a problem, not after
