Best case scenario

- Notre Dame beats Purdue 49-42 and Ash is shown the door.

- Notre Dame then runs the table.

- Miami, Texas A&M and USC all turn out to be elite (a big if, admittedly).

A playoff berth will be assured if all this happens. I think it's the best we can hope for. I realize we're supposed to root against SC all the time but the season just might hinge on them being legit.

MF won't fire Ash publicly but he may demote him behind the scenes

like he did with Parker a few years ago.

If he's working the headphones more than he has been, when the D is out there, we'll know what happened.

Don't think Ash will be fired this season. I do think MF will become heavily involved with the D.

There are family considerations involved when wanting a coach fired after two games. Can't do it. MF is the one who hired him. Did not MF notice any of this during Fall camp and with meetings with Coach Ash? What was the plan after Miami and before A&M? MF is the HC and former DC. This is his thing. If MF doesn't get heavily involved for the rest of the season then this is all on him. The OL should be in his purview too. .
