One small ray of hope on defense?

In all three games, Notre Dame has allowed significantly fewer second-half points than first-half points, 33 to 66. Yardage-wise for total drive distance, it's similar, 386 to 743.

Breaking it down further, second half its 1.9 points and 20.0 yards per drive compared to the first half's 3.3 points and 37.2 yards per drive.

33 second-half points are still not good, granted, but it seems the first half is the problem. How do you interpret this data?

That's not a ray of hope, that's an indictment.

Sucking a little less in the second half, especially with ND's returning talent, is still sucking.

The D has been broken in one offseason, own it, fix it, move forward.

I think freeman demanded more aggressive blitzing yesterday

Hard to interpret. I will say I don't think it's all because of our D. A&M missed a bunch of wide

open guys in the second half. We're lucky that wasn't worse. I did genuinely think the D looked better after halftime this game. This is the only game I've thought that. For me, that is the silver lining. Hoping that they made some changes at halftime and looked a little more like last year's defense and maybe that can develop going forward.

MF’s involvement.
