The offense is fine.

We have the best 1-2 running back punch, as well as an excellent throwing QB. There's no need for designated QB runs, even though Carr can certainly run the ball.

Talk about a very creative interpretation of what Denbrock said...

From Matt Freeman on ISD:
"On his assessment of the wildcat and why he’s running that vs. using Kenny Minchey:
“Yeah, I mean, it's a good thought. It's something that we've talked about. We were pretty specific with what we wanted to do with the Wildcat in the [Texas A&M] game, and it was more based off of the way that coach [Mike] Elko liked to zero-fit certain runs, and I thought it was something that was necessary.

“We'll pull it back out if it's something we think is necessary again. I do think there's some things, as we go through the season, that Kenny Minchey could possibly add to the run game in some scenarios, whether that be short yardage or whatever. And we've talked about exploring some of those. We'll see where it goes.” "

Making Carr more like Riley is like forcing powlus to have Tony rice skill set.

Ridiculous. U have the best running backs in the country, use them. Let Carr be a great QB. Not a glorified back

Thread Level: 3

Ok Tom Brady you're out we're putting in Manziel. Makes total sense.

If you want to be predictable that is and not utilize the dual threat and deception potential our HB's combined with an excellent passer produces.

For crying out loud, play action ought to be deadly with ND's HB's back there. It seems like they rarely run it.

Telegraphing plays for short yardage shouldn’t matter if your o line is good. But if

U don’t need to telegraph don’t.

Minchey might be Just as good as Carr but let our star RBs handle the load and use more play action.

Carr can handle an occasional run play. We should never run enough of them to say we need a Riley type of QBs. A QB should play based on passing not on running skills.

Agreed. And I don't think Carr does that bad as a runner.

Short yardage may not be his thing, but I doubt it's Minchey's either. The stats seem skewed.

Agree re: CJ, but I have never understood your problem with Minchey - it seems personal.

By all accounts he is a great teammate who gave CJ a real run for his money. I've never heard anything negative around his character. What gives?

This is old news, Minchey is a big meany for having more talent than his friends' kid. Carr too.

Minchey and some of his cronies are not good people and are not real ND Men. A lot of "stuff" goes on that fans are not aware of. I will say no more...

He left on his own.

You don't get to be the starter based on seniority. He saw his competition for the #1 job practice to practice and heard what the coaching staff said at the end of spring practice. He decided he wanted to play somewhere else. If folks want to imagine he would have been better than Carr (or Minchey for that matter) so be it. He certainly didn't get screwed.

Only if they are trying to distract from the Chris Ash dumpster fire with another bad decision.
