A few notable scenes missing from the theatrical film:
-There is a whole subplot involving that Mary girl who wouldn’t let Rudy paint the helmets. Apparently she’s also a writer for the school newspaper and learns of Rudy’s story. She must of been the one who wrote the article the announcer mentioned during the GT game.
-The priest who helped Rudy get into Holy Cross says goodbye to Rudy as he leaves to go on a mission in Bangladesh. That explains why he’s not at the game at the end of the movie.
-Rudy meets with Dan Devine to make sure he’ll still be part of the team after Devine takes over. Devine says he doesn’t like using walk-ons seeing that he has 90 elite athletes & only dresses 60. He tells Rudy he can still be on the team after Coach Yost spoke highly of him.

Hope it’s not accurate or that he’s come back to the Catholic Church, he’s in my prayers this morning.
God bless everyone. 🙏

Allen Pinkett was also a speaker. Both incredibly personable. Took their time with each person taking pictures and signing autographs. Allen was a member of our parish back then and Rudy donated his time. Rudy said the movie was a made for Hollywood type thing. The creators left huge parts of his life out and included stuff that never happened. I was at the "Rudy" game sitting in the portable bleachers they used to have in the north endzone. Got some great Polaroids of G Tech huddling right in front of me, then getting stuffed by the Irish D as Tech tried to QB sneak its way out from their own goal line. Anyway, don't recall a "Rudy" chant or Rudy getting carried off the field. Doesn't mean it never happened. It means I was walking around on the field after the game and didn't notice it.
A week later he was busted in Vegas for a pump and dump stock scheme...
I was not at the "Rudy game". Was somewhere in the crowd scenes for the Rudy movie though...
