To experience a gameday at ND, you have to follow the money.

From $50 parking in an open field to a $6 bottle of water inside the stadium. The charm of the campus fades with each building built. Surprised there isn't a fee to visit the grotto and Basilica. And now you have this fake noise pumped into the stadium atmosphere by a DJ blasting rap music, some gal screaming into the P.A. system at every break, and a Jumbo with sound levels competing with a Deep Purple concert. That's not atmosphere. It's ginned up hype IMHO. The fans, led by the student body, know when it's time to get loud. And yes, I've heard it time and again that there is something to noise and a bowl stadium. Don't blame 4th and nine or 10 men on the field on the lack of stadium atmosphere. OSU could play in a graveyard at midnight and still win.

The idiot DJ broke me.

Miami had one too, and he sucked ass.

NFL games are easier on the senses these days.

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame

All the noise at Kyle Field resonates off all the banners hanging up from all their championships. Oh, wait...

Maybe when A&M actually wins somehting of note his opinion will have a lot more merit.

EVERY stadium in Amarica that is noted for being a "tough place to win" has EVERYTHING to do with the quality of their teams not the building.

sound escape. I’ve been to a sell out game at the big house with fans losing their minds. Same shape - not as big of a sound as, say, Neyland Stadium. Until we can trap the sound in, it’s never going to be as loud as some of the other big stadiums.

They would come back from a commercial break and all you could hear were birds chirping and some airplane motor in the far distance.
It was pathetic.

is really not that imposing for visiting teams. Unless it's a really huge game, the fans can be very ho-hum.
Had season tickets for 20 years, until Crossroads priced us out. I can only think of a few games where I thought the fans really played a role, including Miami 1988, Stanford 2012 (goal line stand especially) USC Bush Push, and maybe a couple of others.

My theory was that ND stadium was a prestige thing for rich fans. They'd sit the whole game, laps covered in a plaid blanket, and clap politely.
I do think they've tried to address that with the Jumbotron, music, DJ (yuck!!) and finally allowing resale of tickets. We were always threatened with excommunication (ie ticket revocation) if we resold our tickets. When we had our tour/sales pitch during construction the guide/rep was telling us we could actually make money on our season ticket package.

There has never been anything intimidating about our stadium. It was always the great teams we had.

I don’t think our crowd adds much to the atmosphere.

No fans from other teams travel to whatever A&M's stadium is called just to say they've been there.

Bigger isn't always better... it depends on how you use it.
