Though LSU and Texas both look pretty beatable. It would sure help if they both make the playoff.
As far as ND goes, the obstacle seems to be can our defense stop USC from scoring 100 points. And how good is this Boise team?

Results matter, but 2-0 vs directional schools and 0-2 vs top 10 schools should be required context.
No other team draws the national width of fan support.
In today's world it's the $ from tv ratings that dictates everything.

I’ll check my sarcasm meter. Or you’re off your rocker. One of the two.
ND is at 3-1
I know you can say holding happens every play, but DL pursuing the QB aren’t tackled from behind on every play, in fact I’d argue it’s quite rare.
I think most of the civilized world that saw that play agrees that ND should be ranked, and likely should be 3-1.
Just my 2 cents, as always I could be wrong.
God bless everyone & Go Irish! 🍀🏈

ND's two wins are arguably not strong enough to catapult them above any 3 or 4 win teams.
Imagine what beating Navy will do.

It seems to me they want more marquee match ups not fewer. ND's problem is some dip put them both at the beginning of the schedule. Before they had a chance to get guys some experience. Had ND lost by 21 in those games I'd agree, but not two last second losses by a total of 4 points.
Punishing teams for playing tough teams in a close game isn't the way to get more games like those scheduled. I doubt Bama vs La- Monroe draws many more viewers than ND v. Miami. And we know it's all about $$$.
And in the end, in a playoff game how many eyeballs go to Texas Tech vs. Miami, as opposed to a Miami v. ND re-match in Miami?

d. It's baffling the defense could come out and look so poor, especially after having 2 weeks to course correct against A&M, if Ash was only adding the final touches to an already solid defensive foundation.
Of course, there is no proof that's going on, but a fan can dream. And, both Canes and A&M should feel damn lucky their games were scheduled very early with ND. Those games are on MF IMHO. Less TV time talking about last season and more time spent with the D and the new DC. There is no way that this O & D should have been this unprepared. There's going to come a time this season that the D will have to win the game by making a play, creating a key TO, making a 3rd or 4th down stop. This team has the goods on O but if the D improves week to week......look out.

thing was scripted to make the defense look good. Something was amiss, and I think ND is going to look back on this year and become very frustrated.
Lots of football left to play.
They can win it with a now experienced QB, I think they are lenient on the early losses. The problem is quality wins, so they are going to have to look very impressive the rest of the way, including an at least solid defense.
And hope for carnage in the Big 10 and SEC. And that teams like Texas Tech & Iowa St. pick up a loss.
